Netherlands Embassy supports young Indonesian documentary makers
On Saturday 25 October, Metro TV announced the Eagle Awards 2008, a competition for young documentary makers. One of the finalist teams of The Eagle Awards, namely Mr. Anom Bayu Santoso and Mr. Badrudin Kurniawan from Malang, has been invited by The Netherlands Embassy in Jakarta to make a documentary on two persons who take part in the upcoming Special Olympics. The Special Olympics Indonesia are the national games for persons with an intellectual disability, and will take place in the end of November. The documentary will be made for SOIna, the Special Olympics Indonesia organization. Mr Anom and Mr. Badrudin will receive full professional guidance by famous Dutch film maker Orlow Seunke and Indonesian expert Chandra Tanzil.
The reason for the Dutch Embassy to start this initiative is on one hand to support young Indonesian film makers by giving them the chance to work on a serious documentary together with professional film makers, and on the other hand to give attention to the mission and objectives of SOIna and young Indonesian athletes with an intellectual disability.
During the Award ceremony, Mr. Paul Peters, Cultural Counsellor of the Netherlands Embassy in Jakarta, presented the Embassy Award to Mr. Anom Bayu Santoso and Mr. Badrudin Kurniawan.
